EU Policy Lead & Applied Researcher Hugging Face

I’m currently focused on policy and technical efforts tied to AI transparency, responsibility, and open-source development. Professionally, I’m working on the EU AI Act’s implementation, advocating for training data transparency, labeling AI-generated content, including watermarking, and developing risk mitigation measures that align with the societal impact of AI. Additionally, I explore the question of ethical AI applications for worker empowerment, contrasting them with risks of job displacement. I am very interested in the topic of AI literacy; how we can open AI to a wider range of people, helping them use AI responsibly and understand its limitations. My research also focuses on empowering communities like Wikipedia to make informed decisions on how and where to apply AI effectively. Opportunities lie in fostering diverse voices in AI, supporting community-driven innovation, and enhancing transparency mechanisms to bridge understanding gaps between developers and stakeholders. The biggest, encouraging surprise has been the resilience of open-source communities in advancing AI responsibly amidst growing pressure and resource constraints.
