Dr. Rebekka Reinhard
Editorial Director
I am the founder of human magazine (est. 2023), which explores the relationship between humanity and artificial intelligence. With a PhD earned summa cum laude in contemporary American and French philosophy, I now work internationally as a speaker and expert on leadership, digital transformation, and something you could call no-bullshit feminism. I am also known for my podcast Was sagen Sie dazu?, which—until 2022—was one of the most listened-to non-fiction podcasts in the German-speaking world, featuring guests such as Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim, Julia Jäkel, Richard David Precht, and Joe Kaeser..
As a SPIEGEL bestselling author, I have published several books including Die Sinn-Diät (2009), Wach denken (2020), and Die Zentrale der Zuständigkeiten (2022). My latest one is Die Kunst, gut zu sein (2023)… more coming up.

Thomas Vašek
Head of Content
A strong driving force in my life has always been the desire to understand the world. As a young investigative journalist, I exposed scandals and uncovered hidden agendas. Over time, my focus shifted toward scientific and philosophical questions. I have long been fascinated by the relationship between humans and technology—from the early days of the internet to our cultural bond with the automobile. My career has taken me through various editorial roles, including editor-in-chief of MIT Technology Review (Germany) and P.M. Magazin, and most recently, founding editor-in-chief of the philosophy magazine HOHE LUFT. My philosophical interests led me early on to the topic of artificial intelligence. I’ve published several books, including Schein und Zeit (2019), Land der Lenker (2019), and the bestselling Work-Life-Bullshit (2013), a widely discussed case for the value of work in our lives.

Tanja Maus
Art Direction
I’ve always been passionate about using my work to give magazines, products, and companies the visual identity they’re looking for. Today, however, both visual habits and ways of working are changing. I find it increasingly important, challenging — and also rewarding — to create a meaningful collaboration between human and artificial intelligence. And that applies not only to graphic design. Approaching the highly technical topic of AI in a human and emotional way, giving it a literary framework, and discussing it within human magazine is a deliberate disruption. I’m deeply drawn to working with these kinds of contrasts.

Maja Metz
Picture Editor
As a photo editor and photographer, I’ve spent the past 30 years deeply engaged with images. Over the last two years, my perspective on imagery has shifted significantly — from a state of total fascination with AI-generated visuals and my own ability to create them, back toward a renewed appreciation for images made exclusively by human hands. This raises a question for me: could AI eventually lose its appeal, or is this sense of saturation something specific to my field — or even just to me personally? In my work for various publishers, agencies, and clients, I constantly face the challenge of developing ideas across a wide range of topics — from A for art to Z for ZEIT Studienführer. The rapid development and broad application of AI — far beyond my own area of expertise — represents one of the greatest challenges I’ve encountered so far.
In a world defined by disruption — from geopolitical instability and technological upheaval to climate shocks and societal fatigue — the old model of resilience as mere endurance is no longer sufficient. Europe needs a smarter, more adaptive form of resilience to navigate an uncertain age.
Our white paper human Forward presents a new framework: Smart Resilience. It is based on the idea that resilience is not just about withstanding pressure but about responding intelligently to change. It fuses human judgment, adaptive thinking, and artificial intelligence into a hybrid capability to anticipate, absorb, and shape the future.
Contributors include leading international and emerging voices from economics, technology, security studies, philosophy, psychology, climate research, and media ethics. This curated dialogue creates new perspectives, real transfer across disciplines — and actionable impulses beyond siloed thinking.
Human Forward is a call to decision-makers in politics, business, public administration, science, and civil society to embrace Smart Resilience as a guiding principle for action.
